5 Years and No Sleep

May 16, 2008

Colby is 5 years old today!!! Hooray, we both made it this far, half a decade! I have had about half the amount of sleep I got before he came along and I can still function. I cannot believe it has been five wonderful years. From 16 hours of labor, to a 9lb 8oz happy baby who never stopped eating, to a super active, intelligent, hilarious boy. He is now five and on his way to kindergarten this August. I love him so much and he has taught me so much, mostly patience and the reality of appeasement.

Today we had cupcakes for breakfast, complete with Spiderman icing and webs. We played his new “I Can Do That” Game. He and Benji have set up house in their new fort. When they aren’t busy beating each other with the sticks, they are begging me to Transform the new Transformer Colby got for his birthday. This d@#* thing is so hard to transform, you need a rocket science degree just to do it!

I wish Ben was here to celebrate, but such is life as an Army wife. We are headed to McDonalds to play with friends and have lunch. Then we are going to see SpeedRacer and have dinner anywhere Colby wants, except Chucky Cheese (Which I have dubbed the 7th ring of hell, especially on a Friday night). I could not think of a better way to spend a Friday than with both my boys having fun!
